- Expanded and upgraded diagnostic services and purchased leading edge technology for early detection of cancers, breast, heart and artery diseases
- Built a new cardiology intensive care unit
- Built a new surgical intensive care unit
- Purchased MD Imaging to expand imaging services
- Upgraded obstetrics and gynecology and children's facilities
- Built a new state of the art Cancer Center.

SMH listens to the community and keeps its promises. 81% of citizens polled said increasing the number of ER beds was important for saving lives and maintaining the quality of life in our community. The poll conducted by Silas Lee and Associates in January 2011.
The current 7 mills rate is projected to service the bond.
