SMH is a public not-for-profit community hospital

SMH is owned by the citizens who live in Hospital Service District 2 which is Wards 6,7,8 and 9.

All voters in Wards 6,7,8 and 9, living in or out of the city limits, can vote in this election.

All income over expenses are re-invested in the hospital

SMH has offered quality health care in the community for 52 years

SMH has 300 physicians practicing at its facilities

SMH is one of the largest employers in St. Tammany parish

SMH is governed by a nine member Board of Commissioners who represent the citizens of Wards 6,7, 8 and 9 and the medical staff

The SMH Board of Commissioners meet monthly, typically the last Monday of the month and the public is invited. Check specific dates, times and places on the SMH website: www.slidellmemorial.org

The citizen/owners of SMH have supported capital improvements with tax revenue and this revenue is dedicated to only projects that the voters approve. The SMH Regional Cancer Center was built with those funds

A new ER facility and 36 new inpatient private rooms is proposed with a bond renewal on April 30th ballot. It is a renewal and there is no estimated change in the tax rate.

None of the tax revenue from the bonds goes into the operating budget.
